[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome to the Newman Church podcast. Wherever you are in the world, we are so glad that you've joined us. Our prayer is that this message will reveal more of who our heavenly Father is as we grow deeper in intimacy with Jesus. Enjoy the message. First of all, it's a joy to be here with you this morning in the north. Love the north. We're from north Queensland, so it kind of feels like home. Not really. A little bit colder. The weather changes, but the Lord remains the same. Amen. It is a joy to be here with you all. I love and honor Pastor Glenn and Lynn and they are such a wealth of wisdom. Amen. I so appreciate getting around Pastor Glenn and Lynn. I'm in Pastor Glen's life group and I get to hear and feed off the wisdom from the resources that God has developed and equipped him with and stored up in his heart. I want to honor you, Pastor Lynn, for taking risks and steps of faith through your life. Because we are so blessed by what you guys carry, because you've chosen to say yes to God into sometimes unknown spaces and unknown places. And so we love you and honor you and Josh and Kelly, we love you guys too. I feel like when I'm in the room praying with Josh, I feel like spiritually, as I'm praying with him, I feel like I can take down giants in the supernatural realm and let's be honest, in the natural realm too. But Josh, you're a man who's sensitive to the Holy Spirit and I see that in you. And you do have his ear and you have his heart, and you're gentle and he's gentle with you. And I see the power of God moving mightily in your life in all different spaces and places because of that sensitivity you have and that friendship with him. And you are a friend of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. Well, this morning, my beautiful wife Alyssa is here with me as well. We serve together at Numa, Melbourne City. And I'll tell you a little bit more about us before we kick off today. But I would love to pray. Would you just close your eyes with me and turn your heart to the Lord? We thank you, Holy Spirit, that you are here today. Lord, we honour your presence in the room, even right now. I thank you Lord, that because the spirit of the Lord is here, there is freedom. There is freedom. I thank you, Lord, that miracles happen when you were made known, that miracles happen when the son of man is lifted up. I thank you that salvation is in the room today. That healing is in the room today. I feel that unusual miracles are in the room today. And Lord, I honor you for it. You're the miracle worker, holy and anointed one. We worship you, Lord. We have not come today just to talk about you. We've come today to encounter you, Lord. We are hungry. We are hungry for you. Fill us a fresh holy spirit. We welcome you in this place today. Fill us afresh with your spirit. May we grow deeper in our love for you, Lord. May we grow deeper in our love for you. Teach us what you love. Teach us what you don't love. Teach us the ways of your spirit. We learn the ways of the world from others, but we've come here today to learn the ways of your spirit. Teach us how to walk with you. That we would carry something of your presence back into our homes, into our families, into our workplaces this week, that we would carry the answer to every problem. We would carry Jesus Christ in us, the hope of glory. Come, Lord, come fill our hearts this morning with every eye closed and every heart on Jesus. Can we sing alleluia again? Just look to him. Come aware of his presence in the room. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Can we sing? Thank you, Jesus. Oh, yes, we thank you, Jesus. We're here today because of you. Thank you for saving us. Thank you for your blood and your body. Thank you for sending your spirit. Thank you, Jesus. Sing. Holy spirit. Holy Spirit. We look to you, Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. Holy spirit. One more time. Thank you for your presence, filling the room, filling our hearts and our minds. Thank you that there is healing in people's bodies this morning, Lord, healing in the hearts and the mind. Oh, we honour you, holy spirit. Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you for your presence in this room. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Just keep your eyes on him. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. Toby, I saw the Lord coming over to you and grabbing your ears, and I saw him whispering in your ear. And I feel like the Lord in this season is going to speak to you in very specific ways that would often remind you of how much he loves you. And I see you working and doing your thing and being busy doing things for God, doing things for work for family. And I just see the holy spirit coming and whispering in your ear, reminding you of how much he loves you. And Holy Spirit, I thank you, Lord, for words of knowledge that would be gifted unto Toby. Yes, for others. Yes for situations. But, Lord, I thank you in Jesus name. I thank you that you would speak to him, not just for others. But reminders of your great love that you would speak to your son, show him how much you love him. Oh, I thank you, Holy Spirit, for such a sensitivity to your voice. We bless him today. The ears of his heart would open up to the voice of a loving father. The lies of the enemy would be faded out by the sound of love that flows from the heart of God like a rushing river. I thank you. Words of love would flow over him and his life. In Jesus name, we thank you, Jesus. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Jesus. Hey, my sister, who was singing, that was powerful. I didn't catch your name before. What was your name? Christy. Awesome. Are you somehow related to Jared? Okay, I just wanted to check because that'd be really weird if I said I thought so, but I didn't want to assume because that could get really uncomfortable, couldn't it? Imagine if I said it to another lady. Just be weird, wouldn't it? Christy? Oh, Christy. Can I hold your hand while we pray? Thank you, Jesus. I just saw. Just look to the Lord as we pray. And if you want to, you can stretch your hands to Christy. But I just saw you before the Lord alone in your room. So you're opening the scriptures, and I saw tears dripping on the page. And the Lord showed me your heart for him, and sometimes your desperate cry for help and desperate cry for strength in his presence. And I saw you singing the scriptures unto the Lord and the presence of God, filling your heart with great strength. And I see your husband walking in and joining you and singing the scriptures together, hand in hand unto the Lord. And I thank you, God, that it. That you are filling their house with such an awareness of your presence. I thank you, God, that their house would be a place that is not only filled with communion with others, but filled with communion with God. I thank you for encounters in the secret place. I thank you for deeper encounters in the secret place, Lord, that other people would come into their home and they would experience your loving presence. I see people walking into your home because you've created such an atmosphere of worship unto the Lord. And even people coming over for dinner and getting free from some stuff that doesn't need to be in there. I see deliverance on your house because you guys have cultivated a heart and a relationship with the great deliverer, Jesus. I thank you for such an atmosphere of freedom and joy. I release freedom and joy over their house today. And I thank you, Lord, that you're filling them with strength. The joy of the Lord is their strength. Strengthen their marriage. Strengthen their relationship with you deeper encounters with love and intimacy in the Holy Ghost. Oh, we bless them. Christy and Jared. Today we bless them in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Bless you. Does that resonate? Amen. Bless you. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, gentlemen. You can be seated and blessed and go and sit down and love the Lord in a different way. And however you like to do that, preferably quietly. Maybe we'll sing something later. Preferably christian. Yeah, he's good. My wife and I have just recently moved to Melbourne. We've been in north Queensland pastoring in a church up there. I was a youth and young adults pastor for seven years in a church called Makai Christian family. The location is in the name, it's Mackay. And we stepped into an associate pastor's role last year and we saw God move powerfully in our church. The last twelve months was some of the hardest times that our church went through. There was a lot of accusations and a lot of attacks against the church and the leadership. But during that time, it brought us to our knees in prayer. And who knows? On your knees is a good place to be unless you have a sore knee, but it's a good place to be. And God started to move powerfully. And the prayers that we had prayed and the things we had contended for in the spirit for the last seven years happened very quickly. And we started to see the spirit of God pouring out amongst the church. And just as things started to get really exciting, the Lord started to speak to us about moving. We're like, no, why now, Lord? And the Lord was sending us and we weren't sure where, but as we prayed and we checked in with our prophets of our church and the mentors we had in our lives, it was clear that Lord was sending us to Melbourne. And so we feel like family amongst the Numa family. The same heart, same DNA is in us. And we also really feel like God is doing something significant in this time. And he has sent certain people like yourselves to come and be a part of this body because there is a mantle on this house to carry the weight of revival and to steward a move of the holy spirit in our nation. And so God is sending reinforcements like Alyssa and I like yourselves. So I want to encourage you to believe and look beyond maybe what you see at present and see what God is wanting to release on the church. And not just this church, but the church globally, the church widely. And I really feel for this house. While we were worshipping, I feel like this house in the north, this community, this gathering of believers, is going to have a significant influence and reach into areas of business. And I even see businessmen and women coming to salvation because of the people in this house. I see some of your bosses coming to know the Lord because you've chosen to be the same as you are in church, as you are at work, that you would carry the testimony of Jesus in you, and they would see you as one of the hardest workers. They would see you as one of the happiest colleagues. And I see people coming to know the Lord. I feel like there is an anointing also to release entrepreneurship and to release people into creative ways of solving problems and solution to problems, even in the community. And so, Lord, I just thank you. In Jesus name, we bless what you're doing in this house, and we partner with it by faith. Right now. I thank you, Jesus, that there is an anointing on this house to release entrepreneurs. I thank you. There's an anointing, Lord, for salvation of those in business, businessmen, and women, influential men and women, coming to salvation, coming to this house, and being trained up and equipped to go and advance the kingdom of God. So, Lord, we just honor what you're doing here. We bless this place. It's an honor to be here today in your presence. Amen. Amen. Are you cool if I do that a little bit? Just float in and out of prayer? Cool. Don't. I won't. Yeah, it's good. Praise the Lord. I'm gonna need one of these. It's good water. Thank you, Lord. It's a good drink. Something we all have in common. Well, this morning, I want to share with you a message that I'd call fueling the fire within. Fueling the fire within. And this is the hope of this. And the crux of this message is really to inspire you to whet your appetite and deepen your hunger for a growing and loving relationship with the Holy Spirit. Who here wants to know the Holy Spirit more deeply? Who knows that he is so big, so beautiful, so mighty, so wonderful. That you could spend the whole of your life, you could go 100 years and never fully reach the full extent of what it would truly mean to know him in every way. I've been married only for a little while now. And every day, Alyssa surprises me, and I'm still learning more and more about her. I've been following the Lord now for some years, and I'm still learning more and more about him. There. There is more for us to learn, more for us to grow. And so I pray today that by the end of this service, you would walk out of this place with such a deep desire and a hunger to go and be alone with the Lord, to go and seek him, to carry him into your workplace, to walk with him through every area of your life. I pray that Holy Spirit would fill your heart and mind today. Amen. I'll drink to that. In the Hebrew, the Holy Spirit is called Ruach Yahweh, the Spirit of the Lord, or Ruach Hakodesh, the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of the Holy. In the New Testament, who knows what the New Testament greek word is for the Holy Spirit? It's pneuma. It's pneuma. Pneuma means Holy Spirit. It means the spirit. It means the breath, the wind of God. It also is described as the ghost. Can be translated as the ghost. But make sure when you're inviting someone from work to church, you don't tell them that pneuma means ghost and you're inviting them to the ghost church because they probably won't come. Maybe they will come depending on who you hang out with or where you work. But Numa is the spirit of God. And so aegios Numa is the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit. Who is the Holy Spirit? Holy Spirit is the relatable and reachable spirit of God. He is the helper, the comforter, the counselor, and the source of resurrection power in the life of believers. When the Holy Spirit is present, anything is possible. That miracle working Holy Spirit is not a thing. He is a person, and he actually wants to lead you through every area and every journey of your life. The Holy Spirit is not a ghost or a wind or a fire or a dove. He's often symbolized by those things. But don't mistake him or compare him with those things. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, not because he's lesser, but because he's the last to be fully revealed to us through the scriptures. The Holy Spirit is fully divine. He is the spirit above every spirit because he is the Spirit of God, which means all of the power and all of the glory and all of the authority of God is in the Holy Spirit. And if the Holy Spirit is here today, that means all of the power, all of the glory, all of the authority of the Holy Spirit is at reach with us. If you don't have a relationship with the Holy Spirit today, you can ask him to come and live inside of you. Maybe today you have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, but you've found yourself getting dry sometimes and maybe you've poured out a lot for God. Maybe you've served your church faithfully for years. Maybe you've served your workplace, your family, your marriage for years, and you've started to feel dry. Let me tell you, the Holy Spirit loves to fill us up. It actually is pleasing to him. It's pleasurable to him. He loves to fill us up. The Bible says, don't be drunk on wine, but be filled by the Holy Spirit. I wonder why there's a comparison there. Don't be drunk on wine, but be filled by the Holy Spirit. You know that word filled means to be continually filled. Continually filled. You know, the disciples didn't just have an acts two moment at Pentecost where they were filled and baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire. And then they went out and never encountered him again. They kept coming back into the secret place, coming back into gatherings together. Lord, fill us up, that we might go out stronger than before. Strengthen our weak knees and our feeble arms, that we might preach your word with great boldness. They came back to him and were constantly filled. I pray today if you don't know the Holy Spirit, you would meet him today and he'd reveal himself to you. But I also pray that if you're feeling dry, if you're feeling a little weak, that he would strengthen you and fill you afresh with his spirit. With his spirit. We're not just saved so that we can go to heaven when we die. We know this, right? But we are saved because Holy Spirit actually wants to fill us with himself. We're not just called to get to heaven when we die and then finally relax. But God is calling us. He wants to put heaven inside of us, that we would carry heaven everywhere we go. Do you know, the gospel is not just about inviting Jesus into your life, but it's very significant. It's not just Jesus coming to my life. It's actually the full gospel. Is actually Jesus inviting you into his. Jesus inviting you into his. The same things that Jesus experienced on the earth, he wants you to experience with his spirit abiding in you. Amen. So today I want to focus on three desires that the Holy Spirit has for us. Three desires. There's so many more, but three. If we even get to three, but three desires that the Holy Spirit has for us. You know, he has desires. He is personal. And his heart can be hurt. His heart can be grieved. The Bible says, do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Do not quench the Holy Spirit. His heart can be moved. He can be moved by our worship. And by our love, his heart can also be hurt by the way we respond to him or our lack of response to him at all. So I want to share three desires the Holy Spirit has for you today. The first one is the most exciting one for me in this moment. And then when I get to number two, that one will probably be the most exciting one as well. Open your bibles with me to acts, chapter one. The Holy Spirit, he desires to empower you. Somebody say empower? He desires to empower you. Acts, chapter one, verse eight. Jesus says before he ascends into heaven. And this was not just for the disciples. This was for all who believe. He says this. Acts, chapter one, verse eight. But you shall receive power. Somebody say power? When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and Melbourne and the northern suburbs, to all the ends of the earth, you shall receive power. When the Holy Spirit comes on you, he wants to empower you. Empower you to do what? To be a witness. To be witnesses unto me. What does that mean? It means to reveal who Jesus is to others and do what Jesus did. If I think of how Holy Spirit wants to empower us, he wants to empower us to do what Jesus did. Jesus is not the exception. He's the example. He's not the exception. He's the example. Jesus came to reveal the truth about God, yes, but he also came to reveal the truth about you. He's the example, not just the exception. We are called to do what Jesus did not in our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit wants you to have an encounter so that your life would become an encounter for others. Amen. Holy Spirit wants you to encounter Jesus so that you can be a witness of the gospel, of who Jesus is and what he has done and bring others into an opportunity to encounter the power and love of Christ for themselves. I want you to declare this with me today. Say, Holy Spirit, empower me to do what Jesus did. Amen. A few years ago, I was out on a Sunday night after church to go and grab a burger at a place called Burgerurge back in our hometown. And I tried to order the biggest burger with the most amount of patties because I thought it would make me look more masculine. And so I successfully did that. And I didn't look more masculine because I didn't have a beard at the time, but I do now. And so now Josh and I can look masculine together and start our own beard oil company. Called Aaron's Oil. I was at Burger. I'm so distracted today. I didn't even have a coffee this morning. But I'm feeling very energized and pumped up and excited by the Holy Spirit this morning. It actually feels really good up here. You should come up here later. It feels really good. I feel the Holy Spirit at Burger Ridge. And while we were there at Burger Ridge, the lady who was taking our order came over, and I noticed that she had a brace over her wrist. And I asked her, I said, hey, what's going on? What happened to your wrist? And she shared that she had broken it only a few weeks ago, and it's been giving her pain at work, and she's struggling sometimes to perform her tasks at work. And she started taking other people's orders and walked away. And I thought, I'm going to pray for that lady when she comes back. Sure enough, she came back. And as she did, I said to her, I said, hey, would you mind, would you mind if I pray for your wrist? And she goes, what do you mean? I was like, oh, I believe in miracles, and I believe that God loves you. He has a plan for your life, and I believe he wants to heal you. Would you let me pray with you? And she goes, yeah, sure. And I was like, oh, like, I mean, right now. She started to walk away. No, no, no. It'll only take 5 seconds. She goes, okay, sure. So I held her wrist in my hand, and a friend of mine was with me, and he just stretched his hand there, and we just prayed, lord, I thank you that you love her, and I thank you that you see her. I pray right now, wrists be healed in Jesus name. I said, how do you feel? She goes, yeah, I feel good. I said, well, would you like to check it out? She goes, yeah, sure. And she starts to move and goes, starts to move it around and realizes something's changed. I said, would you be brave enough to take the strap off if you'd like to? She said, sure. So she unstrapped this hard wrist cast thing, and she took it off, and she got full mobility back into her wrist. And she's like, that's amazing. She actually said more colorful words than that, but she's like, that's amazing. And she goes, who are you? I said, I am no one. I am no one. But Jesus loves you, and he sees you. And I said, you should go back to the kitchen and tell everyone what just happened. I said, share with your friends that Jesus has healed your wrist. She goes, oh, my gosh that's amazing. And she ran back and she told them and da da da, and I didn't see her for the rest of the night. I couldn't catch her again, but a seed was sown. I went back to work the following week and I was sharing with one of my friends at work. I said, hey bro, it was awesome. On Sunday night after church prayed for this lady and her wrists got healed and she was just like, oh my gosh, God's real. This is amazing. He sees me and she had her own beautiful joy just lifted her. She came in quite, she looked like she was carrying bit of heaviness. And as she left, I was like, it was amazing. And this person I was sharing with said to me, well, did you lead her to Jesus? Did she give her life to Jesus? I said, well, no, I don't know. I didn't get to see her for the rest of the night. And he said, well, is she coming to church on Sunday? And I said, I don't know, I don't think so. I'm not sure. And he goes, well, what good is it if she's going to go to hell anyway? I sowed a seed of the gospel. See, the power of God doesn't just show that God's powerful, it shows that he's present and it also shows that he loves her enough to see that need and meet her. I so to see to the gospel in her heart. And you know what? If more christians weren't like that, but were like this, then maybe someone else might walk over to her and share the gospel with her and pray for her. And maybe if we didnt have so much cynicism and religion and fear in the church, then someone else would water the seed and that seed would grow. Lets not be like that. Just so you know, thats the wrong response if someone shares a testimony with you. A few years later, I was ministering at our church and I had an altar call on a Sunday for those who wanted to receive Jesus. Some people came to the front and I was praying and I met this young guy, his name was Jacob, on the altar. And I said to him, hey bro, how can I pray with you today? He goes, you look really familiar. I said, oh, okay. Do I? I don't know. Have you been before? He's. No, no, you look familiar. He goes, I think I saw you at Burger Ridge one night a few years ago. You're the guy. You're the guy. I said, what do you mean? And he said, I was working at Burger Ridge in the back room. And one of my staff members came out and told me, jesus has just healed my wrist. And he said, and all of a sudden, I started to think about God. And ever since that day, I've just been thinking about God and trying to read the Bible and trying to do something. And then another Christian came and saw me, and he just shared with me that Jesus loved me. I thought, oh, my gosh, I need to do something about this. And so I'm at church today because of that girl's wrist and then also that guy who shared something with me. And now I'm here, and I want to receive Jesus. And so we did receive Jesus, and we prayed for him and blessed him. And he has been in church for the last few years, and he has been getting to know the Lord. And so you never know the fruit of what happens when you walk in obedience. Holy spirit wants to empower you to be a witness. He wants to empower you to do what Jesus did. How will they know if you don't go? How will they come if they don't have someone to tell them about his love? The whole world is presenting Jesus in a really wrong and yucky way. We're called to represent Jesus, which means to represent him in the right way. We're called to carry his power and love. Holy Spirit wants to fill you for you, yes, but he also wants to overflow out of you for the sake of others. He has given you a mission, to be a witness, to make disciples, to undo the works of Satan and to drive out darkness, to advance the kingdom of God and love the world back to life. But he doesn't want you to do it in your own strength. He wants to put some power tools in your toolbox, turn to somebody this morning and say, check your toolbox. Check your toolbox. He wants to give you some power tools so that you can be a weapon of mass destruction to the kingdom of darkness and a weapon of mass construction to the kingdom of God. He wants to give you some power tools. What are these power tools? Well, I see power tools as two things. These are two things that I see the Lord empowering. There are two power tools, two types of power tools that I see the Lord empowering us as, one, the gifts of the spirit, and two, the fruits of the spirit. These are powerful tools. Let me tell you about the fruits of the spirit for a moment. The fruit of the spirit. Love is not a weak thing. Love is powerful. Love stands in front of a woman who's about to be stoned and says he who has not sinned cast the first stone, willing to take the brunt on himself first. Love is powerful. Joy is not some happy go lucky type of experience. Joy is powerful for the joy set before him, he endured the cross. When you have joy, you can walk through hell and still be happy because God is inside of you. God wants to equip you with some power tools. The gifts of the spirit, the fruit of the spirit. There are nine powerful gifts of the spirit that are mentioned in corinthians, such as the gift of faith, working of miracles, gifts of healing and prophecy, just to name a few. And if you're walking in relationship with the Holy Spirit and allowing him to lead your life by grace, you have access to these power tools. But here's the trick to using them. They are activated by flicking the switch of faith. You have the gifts, but they must be activated by using the gifts of faith. The switch of faith activates the gifts to flow in your life. I love how the late, great evangelist Reinhard Bonnke evangelists to Africa, he said it, like, when you do business with people, you need money, but when you do business with God, you need faith. Faith is the currency of the kingdom of God. The gifts are activated by flicking on the switch of faith, and they must be used within the guardrails of love and the fruit of the spirit. Earlier in the last month, earlier in April, we had an event held at Numa City called Healing Rooms. Who's been to healing rooms before? Anyone been to healing rooms before? Every month we have these healing rooms the first week of every month. And in April, the start of April, we had the event kicking off the year. And the group that I was with, we got to pray for a lady who came, and she shared that she had stage four cancer that had spread throughout her body. And the doctors said that she had not much hope left, but they'll do everything they can, but there's not much more they can do except support her through this time of her life. And we prayed, and she had said to us, before we even prayed, she said, that's what the doctor said, but I know God's not finished with me yet. What they said doesn't make sense because I know God has a plan and purpose for my life, and it's not fully fulfilled. So I know he's not finished with me. So we prayed with great faith because she carried that faith, too. And so we prayed. And as we were praying, we released the blessing of God over her future. We prophesied over her future, her family. She's a mum with young kids. And we prayed over her family, her kids and her marriage, and blessed her. And three weeks later, she had an updated scan to check on what's happening within her body. Just two weekends ago, actually, last weekend, we got news that she is completely cancer free. Completely cancer free. Holy spirit wants to empower you. He wants to empower you. Can I just say something about healing for a moment? Because sometimes when we talk and share testimonies about healing, I feel the tension in the room because some of us, even including myself, have prayed for healing before, for people we love, and they weren't healed. But can I just say with you, say to you that our experiences don't determine the truth. The truth determines the truth, right? And every person Jesus prayed for was healed, all right? And every person that came to him was healed. And so if there's not healing, it's not on their end. It's on my end. And I need to work that out with the Lord. And I go home and I get on my knees and I say, Lord, we need you to move. If I'm standing in the way, do something in me, change me, because we need to see you move in healing. And there are people out there that need to know you love them and need to know your power. My grandmother, I'd prayed for my grandmother who had cancer in the later years of her life, and she didn't experience healing, but I've prayed for many people with cancer and have seen many healings of cancer. When we were in the Philippines, we had a crusade and we had an altar call for healing. And hundreds of people were flocking to the front of this stadium for healing. And I felt the Lord say, don't talk, just sing, Jesus. And we just sang Jesus. And the presence of God was washing over people. And I remember a lady came running to the side of the stage ready to share a testimony very quickly, and she's shaking and jumping and screaming and shouting. And a friend came up as the second witness and she said, when I walked in, I had lumps on my neck. And as you guys started singing Jesus, I can't find them anymore. They are missing. They are missing. They are missing. And her friend screaming, saying, Jesus is real. Jesus is real. I saw the lumps and now they're gone. I could pray and you could pray for 300 people in the next three years and maybe see one person get healed, but that one person is worth looking foolish 299 times to see the power of God touch their life. And even if someone doesn't receive, you can leave them feeling loved and blessed more than ever before, but let's go after it. He wants to empower you. Let's not stand in the way of that. So how can I be fueling the fire within and demonstrating the power and love of Jesus? How can we be doing what Jesus did and fueling the fire within? Well, I want to give you this. This morning, when you see someone is faced with a problem, instead of patting them on the back and telling them everything's going to be okay, instead of patting on them back, I want to encourage you from this day forward to offer to pray for them something so simple that every time you're faced with a problem, see as an opportunity to pray, see it as an opportunity for God's miracle working power to be revealed. You know, one of our core values, our kingdom, culture, values at Numa is prayer fuels power. But if we don't pray, we don't see the power. So when someone's sharing with you at work that they've got a headache, or they're sharing with you that they're so stressed, or they're sharing with you that they're having this argument with their husband at home, and it's really tough at the moment, instead of just patting them on the back and saying it's going to be okay, why don't you pray in Jesus name and believe for the power of God to be released into their situation on earth as it is in heaven. But prayer is the key that unlocks that door on earth as it is in heaven. Amen. Problems are opportunities to pray and release the power of God on earth as it is in heaven. Let's make a decision that we are going to be the type of people who see problems as opportunities to pray and release the power of God. As we're talking about the power and the gifts of the spirit, I need to make something very clear. The Holy Spirit will equip you with tools, but do not get confused. He is not a tool. He is not your tool. He is not a tool we use to get what we want. We are the tool that the master craftsman uses. Where his hand leads, we go. When you see someone moving in the anointing and moving in, healing or praying for somebody and you see them releasing the power of God, oftentimes we can get confused if we don't understand what's happening and maybe judge them and think that they are commanding the Holy Spirit to do something or to move. But, you know, oftentimes people who move in the anointing in a great and powerful way. They're actually so sensitive and so gentle to the Holy Spirit. They walk into rooms and spaces and they ask the Lord, Holy Spirit, what are you doing today? What are you doing in the room today? And the Holy Spirit might whisper into their ear, I'm healing people's necks today. I'm healing their spine today. And then when they take the stage, they can speak confidently and say, I command next to be healed in Jesus name. Not like they're commanding the Holy Spirit, but they're partnering with what the Holy Spirit's already doing. And they're saying, yes, Lord, use me. Use me as a vessel, as a conjoint. I release healing in the name of Jesus. They are the tool that he is using. He gives power tools, but he is not a tool. Holy Spirit is not a tool. The Holy Spirit must not be used to get what we want. It is him who uses us. He's not an addition to your life. He is life itself. Holy Spirit can satisfy every craving of your heart if you let him. His presence is like a spring of fresh water in a desert and in a dry and thirsty world. His spirit, if you seek him and if you let him, can satisfy the deepest desires of your heart. He is everything you need and more. He is the power of heaven and cannot be controlled. He must be yielded to. He eagerly reveals the mysteries to those who truly hunger for him. God's given you the most precious gift, his own spirit, to teach you, to comfort you and guide you. Even the giants of the faith, like Abraham and Moses and David, did not have his spirit living inside of them. So treasure him. Make your heart tender to his direction. He is the Holy Spirit and he wants to empower you. But he is the shepherd and we are the sheep. We lean in and listen and allow ourselves to be a conduit for his blessing to flow. The second thing that the Holy Spirit desires for you is he desires to walk with you. He desires to walk with you. Turn with me to Exodus 33. It is on the screens if you need it. Exodus 33. Holy Spirit wants to guide you. He actually wants to guide you through everyday life. Like the things you think no one could possibly care about, you might find the Holy Spirit deeply cares about. He is so amazing. He cares about you. He cares about your family. He cares about your life, your work, the things nobody cares about but you, he cares about. He wants to walk with you through everyday life. And we see Moses encountering the Lord in a similar way. In Exodus 30 314 18, it says, this. And God said to Moses, my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Then he said to him, if your presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that your people and I have found grace in your sight? Except if you go with us, so we shall be separate, your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth. So the Lord said to Moses, I will also do this thing that you have asked for. You have found grace. Somebody say grace. You can't earn the Holy Spirit. You receive him by grace, for you have found grace, and I know you by name. And he said, please show me your glory. See, God was inviting Moses and the Israelites. To move from the wilderness into the promised land. But Moses knew that if he wanted to get to that next place, Moses knew he couldn't get anywhere without the Holy Spirit. He needed the presence of God. And not only did he know that he needed him, but Moses shows us that it's better to be in a wilderness with the presence of God. Than to be in a place of pleasure without him. It's better to be in the valley of the shadow of death with the presence of God. Than to be on the mountaintop in all of your glory without any of his. I think we all need to get to that place in our maturity, in our faith journey, where we wake up and say, God, I don't want to leave this house unless your presence goes with me. God, my boss has just offered me a promotion into a new role. And I'm really excited about it, and it'd really be a blessing. But, God, if. Holy spirit, what do you think about this? Because if this is not your will for my life, God, I don't want to go into it. I don't want to take this role and this financial blessing if it means I'm walking outside of the will of God. Lord, what do you think? I don't want to step into the new. Unless you go with me. I'd be willing to quit my job if I could walk in your presence, Lord, whatever it is. But if it's your will, if you want me to take this promotion, then I'll take it, as long as your presence leads me. We need to get to that place in our maturity of our faith, where we are so desperate for the Holy Spirit, we realize we're nothing without him, that our goodness is nothing without him. I think a good sign of spiritual maturity. Is a deep dependency upon the Holy Spirit that says, I don't want to live another day without your presence. I'd rather be in the wilderness, but have your presence than be in a place of pleasure without you. Your presence is my priority, for your presence is where I find the deepest sense of paradise and bliss. Nothing else can satisfy me like your presence does. We thank you and honor you, Holy Spirit. Not only did Moses need God's presence to walk with him, but God shows Moses that he actually has a desire to walk with us. You don't have to walk this journey alone. Let me tell you this. The gospel never promises that life is going to be easy. In fact, the gospel often warns us that following Jesus is going to be faced with some challenges and you're going to have some hard seasons. I'm sorry if anyone told you that if following Jesus and laying down your life for Jesus is just going to make things easier, because it won't. Yes, God will bless you, but in the blessing, you become a target for the enemy and other people won't like it. But Jesus says, do not fear, for I have overcome the world. And he says to those who believe that I will never leave you nor forsake you. I'll be with you to the end of the age by the presence of the Holy Spirit. He's with us. See, following Jesus is not always easy. But he does promise that when times get tough, that we'll have someone walking alongside us every step of the way. He wants to walk with you. He wants to walk with you. The key to the power of God is the presence of God. The key to the power of God is the presence of God. The power and the gifts flowing through your life is a testimony of a growing relationship with his spirit. Miracles become normal when his presence becomes our priority. His presence is the key to the power of God. A revelation that changed my life years ago was that his presence is not separate from him. His presence is him. Sometimes we get too familiar with his presence, that we act like his presence is here, but God is not really here. God is somewhere else up in heaven. Sometimes we get too familiar with his presence that we can walk into worship and act as if the Lord himself is not in this room. His presence is him. He is the spirit of God. He is the presence of God, which actually means he is God. And sometimes we refer to the spirit or the presence of God as some spiritual feeling. We need to adjust our perspective. His presence is him. It is him revealing that he is here. That means we ought to treat his presence not as a feeling, but as the Lord himself is here. That revelation alone. If we really lived it and believed it would transform our lives, our homes, our city. If twelve men who got a revelation of the spirit of God is God, walking with them could change the world, imagine how much more we could walking today with their revelation in our pockets every day. He wants to walk with you. His presence is more than a feeling. He is not the goosebumps. The goosebumps is just him saying, hey, wake up, I'm here. You know, you don't have to feel him for him to be here. I remember praying on an altar call one night in a youth meeting, and I was praying, and I was preaching a message on the power of God. And as I'm preaching, I was feeling so dry, so numb, so dead. I had a hard day. I was feeling emotional. I was feeling exhausted. And I get to the altar call, and people come to the altar and I'm like, oh, my gosh, I'm not ready for this. And I turned around, Pastor Lynn, you've ever been there? I turn around and I look to the stage and I'm like, oh, lord, help me to feel your presence right now, because I need help. And I hear the whisper of the Holy Spirit say, when you don't feel me, just go to what I've promised you. I'm like, what have you promised me? Well, he has promised me that he's always here. He's promised me that he's filled me with his holy Spirit and power and that the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me. How much more will he give me life? So even though I feel nothing, ah, this is where I need to activate faith. God. Okay. And I remember feeling nothing for the next hour of that service. On that altar call, we had prayed for people. Many people were being baptized in the Holy Spirit, speaking new tongues. Demons were cast off. Healing happened in people's bodies. People are on the floor, rolling around in the joy of the Lord. And I felt not a single thing the whole time. Why? It's not about feelings. He promised. He's with us. He's here. You know, sometimes you might walk into church and be like, man, I just don't feel it today, man. I feel like the spirit of God has left Numa church. Let me tell you, he doesn't leave his church. His church is his bride. He doesn't leave or forsake. Sometimes you may not feel him, but he is there. He is closer to you than the air that you're breathing. It's a great joy when we get to feel him. But our faith is not based on feelings. Our faith is based on promises in the word. Amen. All right, I need to wrap this thing up. Maybe I can have the keys worship team come and join me. Yeah, or just keys for now and maybe worship team in a moment. Like I said, preferably christian music. We try not to. Yeah, I'm sure that's your gift. And you're lame. I mean, I don't know what it was like before Christ, but praise the Lord. Hey. Oh, wow. Come on, Jesus. Bring the drum kit in. All right, lastly, let me end with this. He desires to empower you. He desires to walk with you, but he also desires to transform you. You know, the love of God loves you and accepts you as you are. You can come to him as a lost son or daughter, and he loves you and accepts you as you are. But he loves you too much to leave you that way. He wants to empower you to become more like Jesus. A friend of mine just launched his new vision statement for his church. I love it. His vision statement for their church was more people, more like Jesus. He wants to empower you. He wants to transform you. He wants to walk with you. Two. Corinthians 318 says, and we all, with unveiled faces, behold, the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image. Somebody say same image? From one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to become like Jesus. He leads us into holiness and transforms us into the image of God. Can I say this? The Holy Spirit and the power of God. The baptism of the Holy Spirit. The infilling of the Holy Spirit is not a reward for holiness. It's the gift that is given to you so that you would become holy like him. It is impossible for you to walk in holiness without the Holy one. Many of us hesitate to respond to Jesus, lift our hands or come to an altar call because we think, I need to get some stuff right in my life. Before I could stand before God, he won't want to touch me yet. I need to figure out some things. But let me tell you, friends, you'll never figure it out without him. It wasn't until I came to an altar so desperate, so hungry, so needing to be filled, that I experienced the most transformation in my life. It's his spirit that transforms you. It's his spirit that makes you like Jesus. The Bible says, walk by the spirit and you will not gratify the flesh, because as you walk in friendship with the Holy Spirit. You begin to fall in love with what he loves, and you begin to hate what he hates. And you start to realize that his way is so much better. Sometimes when we're new to faith, we see all these rules in Christianity and like, oh, we can't do this and we can't do that. They're not rules to bind you. They're rules to set you free. They're not rules to hold you back. They're invitations to walk in the holiness of God. Walking in the holiness of God will bring more freedom to your life than you could find on drugs. That walking in the spirit of God will bring you a high like no other. Walking in the spirit of God will satisfy every area of your heart. You won't be hungry for anything else. But if you're so hungry, feeding on the world all the time, you'll be so full of that, you won't be full of the Holy Spirit. When my grandmother makes me a nice meal and invites me over for dinner, I don't go to Macca's before I arrive. I'll be too full to eat what she's got on offer. I come hungry. I come hungry. I want to encourage you. Numa church. Come to a Sunday gathering hungry. Revival. Yes, revival is like. Yes, revival can look like awesome, powerful meetings. But revival starts when the Holy Spirit revives a love for Jesus in your heart where nothing else can satisfy your weak, accepted encounter with him. Revival starts in your heart, it's sustained in your home, and then it spills out onto the streets. And when we gather together with a bunch of hungry people who are desperate and know their need for the Holy Spirit, something breaks open in the room. He loves you so much and he wants to fill you with his spirit. [00:57:42] Speaker B: Thank you for joining us. We hope that you enjoyed today's podcast, and we realize that not everyone has had the opportunity to respond to the good news of the gospel. And for this reason, in all of our services and platforms, we want to extend to you the opportunity to follow Jesus. The Bible teaches us that we have been created for a relationship with God. However, sin, which is essentially disobedience, independence and disbelief, or us simply missing the mark, entered the world and separated us from God. Romans chapter six, verse 23 says that the wages of sin is death and a debt was owed. And the Bible tells us that he, Jesus, demonstrated his law for us, that while we were still sinners, he died for us. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. John 316 says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God so loved the world that he gave us Jesus, that whoever believes in him will be saved. All that is required of anyone is that they believe in Jesus. The Son of God who came, lived, died and rose again so that we could be forgiven, made right and given the right to become children of God and to have life forevermore with him. Today you can begin a relationship with Jesus. To believe in him is to simply to respond with faith in our hearts and confess with our mouths that he is Lord. And we do that through a simple prayer. Prayer follow along with me dear Jesus, I believe that you are the son of God. I thank you that you love me and came to forgive me of my sin. I repent from my old way of life and I turn to follow you. I receive the free gift of eternal life and I ask that you fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I can live a life of following after you. I thank you that I am born again as a child of God and that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Amen. If you prayed this prayer for the first time, we would love to connect with you and connect you to your next step and the local church in your area. You can contact us on our website at Numa church. Thanks for listening.
